    53rd Engineers’ Day
    The Institution of Engineers (India), Jammu Local Centre celebrated 53rd Engineers’ Day on 15th September 2020 at its Institutional Complex, Channi Himmat, Jammu through virtual meet. It was attended by large numbers of engineers from various departments. The day is celebrated all over the country on 15th September to commemorate the birth anniversary of the greatest engineer of India “Bharat Ratna, Sir Mokshagundam Visvesvaraya”. The proceedings started with garlanding of the bust of Sir. M. Visvesvaraya by the Chairman of the Centre, Dr. Sanjay Khar, FIE. In his welcome address, he elaborated on the activities undertaken by Institution of Engineers (India), Jammu Local Centre and informed the fellow engineers about the web meeting facility created at the Centre. Rich Tributes were paid to Sir Mokshagundam Visvesvaraya by Dr. Bhawna Sharma; FIE. She highlighted the lifelong achievements, sterling qualities, austerity, integrity, competence and discipline of the greatest icon of engineering profession. Er. Anik Gupta, FIE; Member Editorial Board, IEI Jammu Centre gave an online presentation on the theme of the day “Engineers for a Self- Reliant India”. Er. C P Sharma, MIE; Honorary Secretary, conducted the proceedings while Er. B B Sharma, FIE; Former Chairman, IEI Jammu Local Centre presented the Vote of Thanks.



    The Institution of Engineers (India), Jammu Local Centre celebrated 52nd Engineers’ Day on 15th Sep. 2019 at its Institutional Complex, Channi Himmat, Jammu. It was attended by large numbers of engineers from various departments and organizations. This day is celebrated all over the country on 15th September to commemorate the birth anniversary of the greatest engineer of India “Bharat Ratna, Sir Mokshagundam Visvesvaraya”. Shri Sanjeev Verma, IAS, Divisional Commissioner, Jammu was the Chief Guest on the occasion.The proceedings started with garlanding of the bust of Sir. M. Visvesvaraya. First of all Er. Ravi Chanyal, FIE, Chairman of IEI, Jammu Local Centre presented the Welcome Address. While describing the activities undertaken by the IEI Jammu Local Centre, the Chairman also highlighted the burning issues of the engineering fraternity viz regularizations and Assured Carrier Progression. Rich Tributes were paid to Sir M. Visvesvaraya by Er. Ajay Sharma, MIE, Executive Engineer (Mech.), PHE Dept. He highlighted the lifelong achievements, sterling qualities, austerity, integrity, competence and discipline of the greatest icon of engineering profession. Further, on the occasion, the Chief Guest honoured Er. Santokh Singh, FIE; Retd. Chief Engineer with IEI Award for outstanding services rendered to the engineering profession and to the Institution of Engineers (India), Jammu Local Centre. Er. B. L. Rawal, MIE was awarded with R. L. Sharma Memorial Gold Medal for presenting the Best Technical Paper, Er. Vinod Kumar, MIE was awarded with Rudra Bhagwati Silver Medal for presenting 2nd best technical paper and IEI Bronze Medal was presented to Er. Ranjeev Sawhney, MIE for presenting 3rd best technical paper during the year 2018- 19. On the occasion 1st issue of 17th Volume of quarterly News Letter ‘IEI Jammu News’ was also released by the Chief Guest along with members of Editorial Board Er. Ravi Chanyal, FIE; Er. Kuldip Kumar Badyal, MIE; Er. Anil Verma, MIE; Er. Supinder Jeet Singh, AMIE; Er, Pooja Wazir, AMIE & Er. Vijay Sharma, MIE. The Editorial Board members were also presented with mementoes for the service rendered for timely publication of the News Letter. Hon’ble Chief Guest also honoured Er. S. C. Thukral, FIE; Er. K. R. Suri,FIE; Er. P. K. Nanda, MIE; Er. Sunil Seth, MIE; Er. Sachin Tickoo, MIE and Er. Akash Dusgotra, AMIE with mementoes for presenting two or more technical papers during the year 2018 – 2019. The Staff of IEI, Jammu Local Centre was also awarded for their efforts put in during the term 2017- 2019. Shri Sanjeev Verma, IAS, Divisional Commissioner, Jammu, the Chief Guest while speaking on the occasion congratulated the engineers on the Engineers Day and praised the engineers for the efforts they put in for providing basic services to the public and for development of the state. Er. Vijay Sharma, MIE; Honorary Secretary, IEI Jammu Local Centre conducted the proceedings and presented Vote of Thanks. The inaugural session was followed by a Technical Session which was chaired by Er. Braj B Sharma, FIE; Retd. Chief Engineer & Former Chairman, IEI Jammu in which 05 Nos papers were presented by Er. P. K. Nanda, MIE; Er. B. L. Rawal, MIE; Er. Vinod Kumar, MIE; Er. Ranjeev Sawhney, MIE; and Er. Akash Dusgotra, AMIE on the theme topic “Engineering for Change”.

    On this occasion Shri Sanjeev Verma, IAS, Divisional Commissioner, Jammu and Shri Ramesh Kumar, IAS, Deputy Commissioner, Jammu were Chief Guest and Guest of Honour respectively.

    At the outset, Er. Ravi Chanyal, FIE, Chairman of Jammu Centre presented the Welcome Address. Rich Tributes were paid to Sir Mokshagundam Visvesvaraya by Er. Pooja Wazir, AMIE & Er. Sachin Tickoo, MIE. They highlighted the lifelong achievements, sterling qualities, Austerity, Integrity, Competence and Discipline of the greatest icon of engineering profession.

    The 16th Volume of quarterly News Letter of Jammu Local Centre was also released on this occasion by the Chief Guest & Guest of Honour in presence of Editorial Board comprising of Er. Ravi Chanyal, FIE; Er. Kuldip Kumar Badyal, MIE; Er. Anil Verma, MIE; Er. Supinder Jeet Singh, AMIE; Er, Pooja Wazir, AMIE & Er. Vijay Sharma, MIE.

    Further, on the occasion, the Chief Guest & Guest of Honour honoured Er. Narayan Mengi, FIE; Retired Chief Engineer, Hydraulic Deptt. with D. K. GUPTA ENGINEER OF THE YEAR award for the year 2018 for his life time achievements to the engineering profession. Er. H. B. Khajuria, FIE; Retd. Chief Engineer & Former Chairman IEI Jammu Centre was also honoured by the Chief Guest & Guest of Honour with IEI Award for his outstanding services rendered to the engineering profession and to the Institution of Engineers (India). R. L. Sharma Memorial Gold Medal was presented to Er. Vinod Kumar, MIE for presenting the Best Technical Paper during the year 2017 – 2018 and Rudra Bhagwati Silver Medal was presented to Er. Sachin Tickoo, MIE for presenting 2nd best technical paper during the year 2017 - 2018 respectively.

    The 50th Engineers' day was celebrated by The Institution of Engineers (India), Jammu Local Centre at its Institutional Complex, Channi Himmat, Jammu which was attended by large numbers of engineers from various departments and organizations. This day is celebrated all over the country to commemorate the 156th birth anniversary of the greatest engineer Sir M. Visvesvaraya, Bharat Ratna.

    On this occasion Dr. Nirmal Kumar Singh, Hon'ble Deputy Chief Minister, Minister for Power Development, and Housing & Urban Development, J&K Government & Sh. Sunil Kumar Sharma, Hon'ble Minister of State, PWD (R&B) and Revenue, J&K Government, was the Chief Guest and Guest of Honour respectively.

    At the outset, Er. Ajay Gupta, FIE, Chairman of Jammu Centre presented the Welcome Address.

    Rich Tributes were paid to Sir M. Visvesvaraya by Er. Supinder Jeet Singh Sodhi, AMIE; Regional Head (North), Himachal Futuristic Communication Ltd. in which he highlighted the sterling qualities of Sir M. Visvesvaraya like Austerity, Integrity, Competence and Discipline.

    Further, on this occasion Er. D. S. Pawar, FIE was honoured by the Chief Guest with IEI Award for his outstanding services rendered to the engineering profession and to the Institution of Engineers (India). He was presented with Gold Medallions as a mark of respect.

    Chief Guests also presented R. L. Sharma Memorial Gold Medal to Er. Supinder Jeet Singh Sodhi, AMIE for presenting the Best Technical Paper during the year 2016 – 2017 and Rudra Bhagwati Silver Medal to Er. Ajay Gupta, FIE; Er. P. K. Nanda,MIE; Er. Anil Verma, MIE; Er. Rabinder Shekher,MIE; Er. Dr. Bhawna Sharma,MIE & Er. B. L. Rawal, MIE. The Editorial Board Members were also presented with mementoes for their outstanding services rendered for the timely publication of News Letter.

    The inaugural session was followed by a technical session which was chaired by Er. V. N. Sharma, FIE; Member Regional Empowered Committee, Northern Region, Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change, Government of India and Former Chief Engineer, P.W.d. J&K govt. in which 08 nos papers were presented in the shape of Power Point Presentations by Er. S. C. Thukral, FIE; Er. P. K. Nanda, MIE; Er. Sewa Ram, MIE; Er. Vijay Kumar Sharma,MIE; Er. Ranjeev Sawhney,MIE; Er. Vinod Kumar, MIE; Er. Akash Dusgotra,AMIE, Er. Rajesh Kumar Angural and on the theme topic "Role of Engineers in a Developing India".

    Er. B. L. Rawal, MIE; Honorary Secretary of the centre conducted the proceedings of the function and presented vote of thanks to the august engineers, guests, line departments and media persons for making this function a grand success.



    The 49th Engineers' day was celebrated by The Institution of Engineers (India), Jammu Local Centre at its Institutional Complex, Channi Himmat, Jammu which was attended by large numbers of engineers from various departments and organizations. This day is celebrated all over the country to commemorate birth anniversary of the greatest engineer Sir M. Visvesvaraya, Bharat Ratna.

    On this occasion Sh. Sham Lal Chaudhary, Hon'ble Minister for Public Health Engineering, Irrigation & Flood Control Department, J&K Government, was the Chief Guest.

    At the outset, Er. Ajay Gupta, FIE, Chairman of Jammu Centre presented the Welcome Address.

    Rich Tributes were paid to Sir M. Visvesvaraya by Er. Ms Pooja Wazir,AMIE Assistant Executive Engineer, PWD (R&B)Department, J&K Govt. in which she highlighted the sterling qualities of Sir M. Visvesvaraya like Austerity, Integrity, Competence and Discipline.

    Further, on this occasion, the Hon’ble Minister honoured Er. K. R. Suri,FIE; General Manager, O&M (Retired), Power Grid Corporation of India, Jammu with D. K. GUPTA ENGINEER OF THE YEAR award for the year 2016 for his life time achievements to the engineering profession. Er. Inderjit Singh, FIE; former Chief Engineer, Hydraulic, J&K Govt. was also honoured by the Chief Guest with IEI Award for his outstanding services rendered to the engineering profession and to the Institution of Engineers (India). Both of them were presented with Gold Medallions as a mark of respect.
